Evening meal was spent at Al Capone's Pizza parlor... good food! We celebrated with Erinn as it was her birthday (Happy Birthday Erinn!) and had a very enjoyable evening. Upon returning to CEDO several of the students wanted to attempt some late nite tide-pooling...so off to the water they went. Alex and I grabbed some lights, including the UV lights, and headed down to join them and managed to come a cross a few of the local fauna of the Desert Hairy Scorpion types (Hadrurus arizonensis), roaming the neighborhood in search of a meal. The first one we found was about 4-5" and a bit of a surprise for the both of us... Check out Jessica's photos...awesome under a black (UV) light! A little further down the path and we came upon several more. Sharing this "find" with the students coming back from the beach, they were a little "SURPRISED" to see these lovely little critters that were all around their sandalled feet! We ended up finding about 8 altogether... good reason not to go barefoot in the sand especially at night!

Day 2! Two very interesting and informative lectures one by Alicia, the resident intern here at CEDO and Dr. C (Alex) trip Mage, Scholar and Leader. I found both to be very enjoyable and - for me since music is my area - very educational. I am again reminded of just how great & gifted our faculty really are at MCC-RM. Alex made the lecture both interesting & enjoyable, infusing it with a reference to a particular Jalepeño dip that we have all grown quite fond of eating! ;-) [As an aside: I have always appreciated getting to hear my colleagues speak on their given areas of expertise... Marine biology has been a hobby and interest of mine for a long time, so it was nice to hear a word from the "master teacher"!!!] Thanks Alex!
